TrueEarth Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 19, 2026

TrueEarth shows Earth imagery from NASA's DSCOVR EPIC mission. The app is designed to work without accounts, advertising, analytics, or tracking.

Data We Collect

TrueEarth does not collect personal information from you. The app does not use third-party advertising SDKs, analytics SDKs, cross-app tracking, or user accounts.

Data Stored On Your Device

TrueEarth may store app settings, downloaded Earth imagery, selected dates, cached gallery images, saved place names, addresses and coordinates, and an optional NASA API key locally on your device. This data is used only to operate the app and improve performance. You can delete saved pins inside the app and remove all locally stored app data by deleting the app from your device.

Location Pins

If you add a pin from an address, the address or place text is sent to Apple Maps for geocoding. If you tap Use Current Location, TrueEarth requests foreground location access to place that pin. TrueEarth does not request background location access. Saved pin names, addresses, and coordinates remain on your device and are not received by the developer.

Network Requests

When the app downloads imagery or metadata, it connects to NASA, NOAA/NESDIS, and Japan Meteorological Agency services. These providers may receive standard network information such as IP address, request time, and requested URL as part of operating those services. NASA's policies are available at nasa.gov/privacy.

Children's Privacy

TrueEarth does not knowingly collect personal information from children or adults.

Changes

This policy may be updated if TrueEarth's functionality changes. Updates will be posted with a new effective date.
